Mustang Cobra R Vs. Corvette ZO6
Which one of these two cars do you think is better? I just want to know other opinions, as for mine, Id say the ZO6 is better.

The Z06 is faster but I like the styling of the Cobra R more.

Define better. Better as in how? Acceleration? Braking? Ergonomics?
The Z06 is faster straight line. The Cobra R is just slightly faster in the slalom. Neiter cars are ergonomic wonders, but it's obvious that both companies put their money into the drivetrain and engine.

Better as in acceleration and reliability.

I would go w/the 405HP ZO6...it's faster...0-60 in 4.0 seconds...while the Cobra R is like...i think 4.8 seconds...
Reliability...both arent going to be...but my money is on the Vette

Yup, I'd bet on the vette too.

Theres nothing to bet against. The Type-R was put up against the 385HP Z06... The 04' Z06 with the new suspension and 20 extra HP...it surprisingly DOES drive like a wholly new car. It isnt a comparison at all. The Vette will waste it in every aspect, all the while listening to music and having a comfortable ride. Mustangs SOUND fast. They aren't.

On all points the Z06 takes it, I mean come on, Mustangs are not sports cars, they can't turn, they can't brake and they aren't all that fast compared to real sports cars, and I don't think that the Z06 does 0-60 in 4.0... neither does the Mustang R do it in 4.8... if it were so both of those cars would be seriously undervalued. A stock 2003 GT3 (380hp and it weighs significantly less with far more of a race bent) does it in 4.3

Ill admit there is ALOT I truly dont know about. But I try to keep track of everything I read. Ive read at least 10+ articles on the Z06 since the 405 HP change. Ive seen as low as 3.98 and as high as a 4.28 or so 0-60 for the Z06. Its all dependant on drivers, tracks, weather, etc. Most tests tend to hit the 4.0-4.1 mark with the Z06 though. I dont remember the runnings of the Type-R, but back when the vette had 385HP it was pretty close. |

Do you know if they were using road tyres or slicks?
The GT3s time was tested on their stock road tyres... most likely those vette times were seen running on slick "cheater" tyres. Regardless I'd love to see you race a Vette against a GT3 on the nurburgring (spelling may be wrong, while I may understand and speak german I can't write/spell it! )

The GT3 does not run on regular rubber either, so don't act as if it's perfectly normal. The Vette was using stock high performance rubber eagle F1 SC's, of much lesser quality then the R compound GT3 tire, give the Z06 the same quality rubber as the Porsche and it's time will improve. Both are street legal and can be driven in most any weather, barring snow. |

Good point made then, and I concede, but I've never had anything against corvettes, oh and the GT3 is only 140k canadian... 255k would get you a barely faster GT2.
But again, I don't consider a 1/4 mile drag race to be real racing, turning at speed is what counts. Furthermore I don't condone illegal street racing, if you want to race do it on the track, for everyone's safety! So .2-.5 seconds (for 0-60) this way or that doesn't really matter in a 50 mile race around the track And that GT3 is nimble as all hell ![]() Oh, and bringing your vette up to 175k (USD) (close to 275k canadian) I could do a lot more with a GT3 and an extra 100k in mods than you could with the vette, especially since the GT3 gear ratios are changeable for track readiness (in the stock model) I'd be more than happy to put a 175k GT3 against a similarily priced Vette on any track in the world. |

Hey dont get me wrong, Porsches are awesome handling cars, and they are pretty quick... But you are overlooking the fact that with the 427TT the vette would outpower that Porsche seriously... almost humiliatingly, not to mention the additional money you could put into for handling package... The Vette is a hell of a handling/driving car, plain and simple, the Porsche is as well, but you pay more for its sophistication and Name than for true performance...but thats my opinion.. Im just a drop dead Chevy Corvette/Silverado guy. Besides, I am in Germany, Ill run ya with my Vette if I can figure out where Nurburing is and if its an open track, it would be awesome to put my car on it, as good of a name as that track has.
You'll prolly waste me though, Its a normal 98 Coupe with just a couple little mods so far

zo6
The ZO6 has one of the best suspensions of any production car. Saying its only fast in a straight line is ridiculous. As far as the ZO6 vs. the Mustang that is stupid. A mustang isn't even in the same category. An SS camaro will beat a mustang. the cobras only have 390 hp with DOHC and a super charger that is just weak. If you ad a super charger to a vette you will be beating vipers.
