Lightbulb Interior light problems

When i close the doors my interior lights do not go off...nor when i turn off the car...nor when i take out the fuse and put it back in...before they would go off if i took out the fuse n put it back in with the doors closed but as soon as i turned them back on with the switch they stayed on, and if i didnt do that they would jus go on when im driving anyway...i already checked/replaced the dimmer switch and that wasnt the problem. i need suggestions ASAP so i dont burn everything out

Make sure your interior lights switch is off, and your twilight sentinel is on low.

You'd be surprised how many people have a common sense problem!

Century's may not have been available with twilight sentinel, look on your dash where the int. lights switch is, and if you dont have another switch for the twilight sentinel, then I have no clue to help you.

Lightbulb

Well thanks anyway but i dont have a twilight sentinel
and yea its a 90 century limited 3300 v6 if that helps any... still desperately looking for info.. is there a relay for the lights? ( i jus discovered that when my dimmer is set for the int lights off the lights do remain on but if i set the switch for the int lights to be on the lights get a little brighter so i really do think its a relay)

Well I don't think you have a relay problem!! But this makes me wonder why is it always people thinking they have a relay problem a short in a wire if something electrical doesn't work right!!

Ok enough ranting!! Now on to your problem...

The way the interior lights work is by using a door jamb switch and/or a switch on the door latch. If one door jamb switch wire gets chafed to ground the lights will stay on, or if the swtich in the latch sticks on the closed position the lights will stay on. I suspect that you have a latch switch stuck closed. I have changed many latches for this reason.

What to do about it?? Remove your drivers door panel about the middle of the door you will see a connector which if you traced you would see it running to your latch. Unplug the connector and close the door!! Does your lights go out?? If they do the latch is stuck closed!! No way to un stick it but you can only change it!

Try this and let me know the results.
