you need snap ring pliers to remove some c-clips....i suggest just gettin new axles from say autozone/advanced auto/napa or some parts store that offers lifetime warranty....i paid total of $115 for both front axles from autozone...not the best quality but they come with lifetime warrenty.

remove axle.........remove inner cup from axle(slides right off) re move the 3 bearing on the tri pod.....spray tri pod down with brake clean....this will expose the c-clips....remove the outter c-clip....tripod should now be able to slid off....

everytime i asked a mechanic about that they told me it was stupid to do just the boot cause dirt has prolly already gotten into the cv and caused it to begin to go bad and cv joints are such a pain in the ass you might as well change the axel i've heard only bad things about just changing the joint or just changing the boot, and new half axels are only $50 or so after you give them your old one. i could be wrong here but it's the most thorough way to fix it.

easiest most cost effective way is to replace as stated a few times earlier.....
