mustang wheelies

Im sure all of you have seen that video with all those mustangs on the drag popping wheelies. Im just wondering how they do that without tire spin? Is it tuning up the torque?

Those cars are by no means stock! The motors are torque mosters which helps with the launch. But the biggest part is the highly tuned suspension and big meaty slicks, that help put every bit of power right into the ground.

Re: Re: mustang wheelies

Torque has a pretty big part to do with it. My friends car with a mild 383, twin TE60's, afrs and a carb with a GM 4L80E and MMR launch box on 17" BFG drags on cobra-r's will hang the tires, and that's with a fairly short stiff sidewall. Having a ton of torque and no suspension work = spinning. Having almost no torque and a ton of suspension work = hook like a mother, but not great times if you don't have the power.

you are right, it would be dope as fudge - but not bloodly likely. alas, it is a fantasy only available to the day dreamer and the work hard enough to achive such ledgeondary manuvers. also, it's impractible to build an engine capable for the street, and illegal to have wheelie bars on the street - at least in cali anyways.

Come on, do you know how dangerous that would be.

Never, EVER going to happen. Can't get enough traction on the street, the surface just isn't good enough. Even bringing your own sprayer bottle of VHT along you might pull one of the tires an inch or so but you're never going to pull a fAsT aNd FuRiOuS yO! wheelie on the street.
