no. a b18 engine will be so powerful that it will rip the entire front end of your car off, and it will proceed to run all the way down the street, wide open, while the rest of your car sits there, with you in it. I really hope that you're not planning on doing this yourself. Take it to a shop. For the sake of your sol. Basically, you can either swap in a b18 using stock engine mounts and turbo it, which is what you usually want to do, since the b series engines fit best. Swap in a b18, bore it out to 2.0, turbo it, build it, and have a car that's fast and handles well. Print that and take it to a shop, since I have a feeling that you don't have enough knowledge about how to do it yet. Hell I wouldn't even try an engine swap on my own just yet. While the H22 has more power, it's also heavier, which means you have to get prelude engine mounts, and you have to shoehorn it into your engine bay. Not too fun.

Thanx emily for that info... I see your a cocky one! Its to bad you think I seem to know nothing... Any way I am think of getting spoon to build and blueprint my engine for me its a lot more money but well worth it in the end... So you say bore it to a 2.0L. If I do that i would have to reinforce the block with iron sleeves? I plan on putting a t3/t4 turbo I want to run high boost levels.. OEM sleeves wouldn't be able to handle that kind of pressure.. If you have any other suggestions I would be glad to here them... So what you running in your sol????

Any time you bore out an engine, you're weakening the block, and I personally would put in aftermarket sleeves no matter how much or how little the engine was bored.. Especially since you're planning on running a turbo. And yes, I am cocky. It's not easy being a bitch, but someone's gotta do it. What am I running? B16a2, intake and exhaust are the only mods for now. Haven't taken it down to the track recently, but the last time I did I had some crappy times due to a full tank of gas, subs in the back, a half blown clutch which blew entirely on one of the runs, and no tuning whatsoever.

I would personally swap in the B18C or B18B if you're going to do a swap. The H22A will require more custom work and it's heavier than the B18. The B18 will have a much easier time fitting in the car and is (I think anyway) a better platform for performance work for our car over the H22A. I hear the B18B is an outstanding platform for turbo applications.

I had considered swapping in a B18 variant in my own Del Sol, but I have decided to keep and work with the B16A3 that I already have in mine.

b18b, turbo, run 10-12 psi...

ur faster than either of those motors for cheaper...

j/w solgrl, why would ur motor need any tuning? with only i/e it should run fine w/ out any type of tune...(not trying to be a dick about this, simply asking)

an, wut did u run?

EDIT: when i say u'll be faster than either motor, im saying STOCK motors for the h22 and b18c1.

KRN - Well I was needing an oil change, and I was running just a few weeks after I got my sol, so I had no idea what oil was in there or how long it had been there. I know we're suppose to use 5w30, but the shop that I usually have do my oil changes was messing around with my old sol and used 10w50 high performance, and the stuff is seriously incredible. Engine runs smoother, and stays cooler. So I didn't have that in there, and that was before I did all the brake work and fixed the alignment issues, so it was shaking really hard down the strip, which was kinda scary. I also had a throttle cable that was as loose as a 10th street hooker, and my clutch was in the process of going. On one run I missed second all together and damn near stalled out. *embarrassing*. So my car wasn't in the best condition to run. My best time was a 16 flat. After I get my clutch fixed I'm going back down there, now that I have a full exhaust, an intake, better oil in, and a lot of the little problems are fixed. Should be good.
