Red face I got a cat - need advice

She came on her own, and no one knew whose she was (a kitty, rather a teenager - 4 months old or so), and we decided to keep her. I do have several questions.

I live on the 4th floor, and there is no way I can let her go outside. So she stays at home. Should I let her on the balcony? There's a tree there and quite a few birds. I'm scared, and I've heard stories of cats jumping off. I've also heard stories of cats being OK. Any advice?

Also she has diarhea. So now we're treating her - the vet suggested we give her no food for 24 hrs and force feed her cammemillle tea 10 ml ev. 2 hrs. My heart is bleeding - she purrs and meows and looks so hungry Sigh.

Also she, annoyingly, steps into her own sh1t! So we have to wash her hind paws every time. I'd like to hope that she'll learn to sit properly and not to step in it. Quite discouraging.

Any more advice here, guys/girls? Thanks in advance.

Alex

P.S. Her name is Dora And she's a "street ninja" colour - grey with black stripes.

My cat used to do what we termed the "Poo Dance," but he grew out of it. You should teach it to use the tiolet.

You might want to keep her off the balcony until she's a bit older, and has a more developed understanding of gravity. i've seen adult indoor cats allowed on balconies w/ no problems, but a kitten may try something funny...

And pics?

Hopefully she will grow out things, as our cat did. And I too would advise not letting her on balcony if there is birds out. As when our cat was a kitten she would do anything to get the birds sitting the fence and would damn near jump over em to try and get them.

Oh that made me laugh, a lot!!!

Yes i would advise keeping her off the balcony, my dad has two cats since they were kittens and they are crazy when they are young, running into things, falling off stuff!!! They brake stuff too.

No camera = no pics

And she has been without food for 17 hrs already! Can you imagine what she's putting us through?

She seems to have developed a piking for the cars in my sig. Hunger does weird things to cats...

Hope everyone works out okay. I would keep her off of the balcony for awhile, unless it has railings with no space in between, and you're watching her while she is outside.

My cat still steps in her own crap every once and awhile She gets litter stuck in her paws then runs around the house kicking her back legs in the air.

Remove the cat, it robs power - and with an overly rich mixture will just desintigrate anyway.

We got our cat when she was about 6 months old, and live on the third floor of an apartment complex. I think we waited about a month before we let her out on the balcony at all, and then it was initially with us holding her. After a while we'd let her down and watch her, giving her longer each time. Now we haved taken a screen out of a window and leave it cracked open all the time, even when we go out of town. No problems in six months so far....

No trees directly outside, but quite a few birds. We saw one out there a few months ago, and so did the cat. Thought she might try and attack it and leap off, but it turns out she talks to the birds! Totally different sound to the meow... a real mimicking chirp!!!

They can be pitiful when they want food... don't give in though! I've had cats with the runs before, and gave a similar treatment to what you describe. Cleared it up good and proper!
