CSC Lacquer Paint removal
I've been going back and repainting some of my older models with so-so paint jobs. Been using CSC as recommended in the FAQ's and worked marvelously for my S2000 and S15. When I got to my Supra, even after days of soaking, the paint wouldn't come off. Both the S2000 and S15 were sprayed with Testor enamel spray cans. The Supra was painted with Tamiya Lacquer spray TS-7 Racing White. Is CSC less effective on lacquers? Everyone praised CSC, so I figured it would work on all paints. Should I try another stripper? Oven cleaner? Brake fluid? Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks.

I,ve always found Tamiya paint difficult to strip as well.You could try caustic soda granules.Its very cheap and usually very effective.Take the usual safety precautions.The mix ratio is up to you,the stronger the better,and the heat generated in the reaction with the water is normal.Before you try anything else,give the paint a nudge with a toothbrush.Sometimes it looks like nothing is happening,then it comes off with a bit of elbow grease.Hope this works for you.

CSC works great for enamels and acrylics, but will no touch lacquers. I use brake fluid to strip tamiya TS paints and Duplicolor paints. As usual, make sure you wear gloves and keep the stripper in a sealed container.

Brake fluid then. Cool, I'll swipe some from my brother's garage and dunk the Supra over the weekend. Thanks guys.
Maybe some (Admins  ) should add a blurb in the CSC section of the FAQ's about Lacquer paints. I'm sure lots of people would find that helpful since Tamiya lacquer sprays seem to be the body paint of choice.

I have had mixed results when stripping Tamiya Lacquers with CSC. I've seen it work.... eventually, and also not work at all, and I couldn't tell you what was different.
 I will amend the FAQ, though...
