What is needed to make an Ls Turbo Reliable???
Right now I currently have a 1995 Integra Ls. I'm going to drop a turbo in it with about 7 psi. I would just like to know what else to buy for it before I put the turbo in. I don't really care for speed or anything like that, I just want my ls to have a turbo and for it to be reliable. I already have an EVO Exhaust and a Stage 3 clutch kit. If anyone knows what else my car would need in order for it to be a daily driver with a turbo please let me know.

well..an intercooler would be a MUST, Blow off valve, PROPER TUNING. What type of kit are you going to put in? Greddy has one that has has a CARB # and is guaranteed to pass emissions test plus it comes tuned already with a separate FMU and bigger injectors. The greddy kit gives the 96-99 LS 164whp and 160 ft-lbs. And that's without an intercooler. Add an intercooler and you will have even more power. 160 ft-lbs of torque will feel really nice when your driving. The LS has better low end torque than the V-tec engines(more displacement). Just don't throw a turbo kit in your car. Proper tuning is a must. After that then you'll be cool. As long as you don't red-line the dam car all over town it should be very reliable with a turbo.

Re: What is needed to make an Ls Turbo Reliable???
I was planning on getting a greddy turbo kit but it is only made for the 96-99 integras with OBDII not OBDI. Well I'll definitely take your advice and make sure it gets proper tunning. Besides just the Intercooler and a blow off valve, wouldn't I need other stuff also. Maybe new cam gears, pistons, pullys, a fuel regulating system...etc???

You might upgrade your fuel system, though with only 7 psi, you probably would be ok with the stock system. You definitely would not need new cam gears, pulleys, and pistons. You only need those if you're planning on building your engine NA or running massive amounts of boost.

no no no
Dont only push 7psi of boost. thats a waste of 3k+ on the turbo kit then. Stock LS can handle 12psi if you tune and your engine is in good shape. it might die out 15k miles earlier than it should if you keep everything stock but if you beef up the interiors you should be able to run 10-12psi all the time and be cool. Thats my 2 cents

But I really don't like it and, uh, I'm not gonna go. Joanna: So you're gonna quit? Peter Gibbons: Uh-uh. Not really. I'm just gonna stop going. Joanna: When did you decide all that? Peter Gibbons: About an hour ago. Joanna: So you're going to get another job? Peter Gibbons: I don't think I'll like another job. Joanna: Well what are you going to do about money? Bills? Peter Gibbons: You know I never really liked paying bills, I don't think I'm going to do that either |
