paint thinner? Really?

So, in my pathetic state known as Montana, car knowledge can be extremely... lacking. But, a few things get around, that make me curious.
One of the car clubs in town tries to know and do it all. The leader has recently come upon some strange information. A certain type of paint thinner is 130 octane, so he has decided to use it as fuel... has anyone else ever heard of this? Because the second he blows up his showcar Tiberon I think we will all have a good laugh.

Anyways, any comments? Has anyone tried it? Heard of it?
...are we really that sheltered in Montana? Yeah, I think I can answer that one myself...

Thanks

ive heard lots of things like that paint thinner mothballs they all probably work but also probably contain awhole lotta crap that engines dont take to kindly to plus i wouldnt doubt it if these were pioneered by domestics and whereas some 350s can have a dead cat sucked thru them with out losing a RPM imports are alot more finicky.

Ah, mothballs. Modern mothballs don't work (I've been told) but the old ones, you could pop a couple into the gas tank of a scooter and have a whole lot of fun until the engine self destructed.

no, he's actually right. i do not think it is paint thinner, but it is something you can buy in a paint store. if anyone is knowledgable about cars over at the paint store ask them which of their paint doubles as jet fuel. its like 140 octane.

i forgot the name otherwise i'd give it to you.

and make sure you don't ask a guy who hates imports and drives around a mustang... hehe he'd be laughing his ass all the way home if he gave you a bucket of red house paint.

i don't bother to try because i just found a gas station around me that pumps out 116 octane out of the pumps. its about $3.80 a gallon.
