1997 engine problems??
I was wondering if anyone knew much about the engines in the mirage? Just recently the engine has started making a weird smell. Kinda like something is burning. It has oil in it and runs fine, but after driving it for a while it begins to smell really bad. Anyone have any ideas???

i had the same trouble with my 97 mirage, it turned out to be the alternator was working wrong and the battery was burning out because of it. also i found out when i took it in for service that the oxygen sensors were bad. i replaced the alternator and battery and one of the oxygen sensors because they cost so much, and the smell is gone although my check engine light is on it still runs fine.

hey man leave your battery unplugged for about 10 mins to reset computer and see if that makes the check engine go off, it should take about 30 mins for the check engine to come back on if its goin to.
