Press the dome override 4 times very quickly and the headlights will go off. Hit it 4 more times to turn them back on.

greg, you should also know that each time you start your truck, you will have to repeat this procedure. By the way, on my 'oo it also works with the DRL's.

SC is right. On a 99 it doesn't work. I have some instructions here if you 'd like me to post them or mail them to you. It consists of cutting the wire to the dash sensor and wiring a resistor in. VERy simple task and gives you full control of the lights via the light switch. I've done this to my truck about a year ago and it works fine.

i got a kit from R&D automotive that lets you go from auto to manual control with a push of a button. pretty cool and simple to install and the button looks stock. got it for $30...or you can do the resistor thing

I followed the link there to the site and purchased it direct from R&D. Now the link says "Forbidden". Dunno y.

Re: 99 Chevy Silverado Auto head lights

I wanted one of those things badly, but couldnt get one so I just did the resistor thing. It works fine for me b/c I wanted total controll anyhow.

Re: 99 Chevy Silverado Auto head lights

Is there a way to make this permanent instead of pushing the button every time you start the truck??
Sometimes I need to roll up, unannounced

pretty sure you gotta push the button each time you turn the vehicle off/on to get manual control, unless you do either method mentioned early in the thread.

that'll work in turning off the DRL's, but you won't have manual control of the headlights.

not completely sure but on the new body style silverados, taking out the drl relay might cause the headlights not to work at all...anyone back me up on this or correct me?
