Igor-
I think this would be a good category to implement. Just a generic, not brand specific board for mainly educational purposes for those who don't know a lot about how cars work, but could benefit from the know-how. And this question here could be one of the first to go up on it. I have questions related to design dynamics of six-cylindered engines. I have heard that for luxury automobiles, the ideal angle between the two cylinder banks of a V6 engine is 60 degrees. But V6's come in many angles, from the 90 degree engine used in the Acura NSX ( ), to the 15 degree engine used in the VW Jetta VR6. And then of course there's the in-line 6's, which is BMW's meat and potatoes. Can anyone explain why these different bank angles are used, and illustrate the pros and cons of each design? Thanks all- -JD |
