Post My future projects. Which one for 2004?

VIP: Very Important Poll
Hi all,

As title says here are all my future projects. I’m so excited in each project that I don’t know which one to choose for 2004.
You all know that the beetle and the Golf III are actually on my workbench. I think they will be finished in December.
So, it’s your vote that will determine what I will begin in 2004.
Even if you’re not into VW’s give me your vote and if it wins you will see it done next year.

I’ll try to explain each project separately, if something is OOS (out of stock) it’s that I will buy it shortly.
************************************************** ****

Project #1: The historical race

Very ambitious diorama.
The idea:
During an historical race, at night, a Porsche 356A needs some repairs. The team has extracted the engine and is changing some parts.

Kits:
1/24 Revell VW Vanagon

1/24 Fujimi Porsche 356A

and 1/24 Revell racing trailer (OOS)

Details and colours:
Vanagon (the rolling workshop): Painted gold with some sponsor-decals. VW Newbeetle rims. Workbench, shelves, drawers, tirerack, compressor, tools, accessories, plans, …
Porsche 356A: Stock with sponsor decals and a race-number. Engine opened and out of the car. Details, linkage, …
Racing trailer: Same colour, rims and decals as the Vanagon.
Tent, 3 mechanical figures, …
************************************************** ****

Project #2: The silver bullet

The idea:
VW Bug Speedster with Porsche engine

Kit:
1/24 Imai VW Moon Cab

1/24 Tamiya Porsche 959 (no pics but in stock)

Details and colours:
Painted silver with chrome rims

Completely shaved, lowered, body transformed into a speedster, trunk opened. Porsche engine with carbon turbine cover and chromed turbine, linkage, …
Bucket seats, harnesses, Nos-bottles, …
************************************************** ****

Project #3: German Golf Mk1

The idea:
German tuning Golf Mk1

Kit:
1/24 Esci VW Gti Rabbit

Details and colours :
Colour undecided yet, Zender rims painted chrome

Lowered, no bodykit (only a VR6 spoiler under the front bumper), splattered exhaust, chromed rollcage, only one racing seat, harnesses, spare rim ( Zender rim too), …
************************************************** ****

Project #4: Belgian Golf Mk2

The idea:
Belgian Tuning Golf Mk2

Kit:
1/24 Revell Golf Gti 16V

Details and colours:
Painted lemon green, Porsche 911 rims, lowered, RS front bumper, Zender rear bumper, Lancia Delta hood, M3 mirrors, M3 sideskirts, Porsche 911 seats and dashboard, drilled brakes, double round exhaust, …

In fact, I began this kit but stopped it to concentrate on the Teardrop trailer. The front bumper is made of the stock golf bumper glued with an M3 bumper and everything puttied. The rear bumper is made of the stock golf bumper glued with a Zender bumper ( I had this bumper twice in my Revell Corrado Zender) and everything is puttied.
************************************************** ****

Project #5: Oldskool Karmann Ghia

The idea:
same as title

Kit:
1/16 Revell Karmann Ghia

Details and colours:
Exactly like this pic

Pink bottom – white top with beige interior.
These rims: OOS

************************************************** ****

Project #6: Street Buggy 1

The idea:
Killer street buggy

Kit:
1/20 Imai Moon Buggy

Details and colours:
Dark red with Jada Toys rims

Lowered, body completely transformed, bucket seats, ..
************************************************** ****

Project #7: Street Buggy 2

The idea:
Another killer street buggy

Kit:
1/25 Revell California Dune Buggy

Details and colours:
Metalic Orange, chromed rims

Lowered, body completely transformed, bucket seats, ..
************************************************** ****

And now VOTE !!

I love that Porsche. You should build that.

Where did you get that Rabbit. It looks just like my dad's and I would love to build one for him. Make it look just like at and right down to the last scratch.
He's going through a really hard time right now, so if you could tell me where, I'd really appecate it. Thanks.

Xav,

Project #1 for sure! I have the same Porsche 356 model (I have 3 Fujimi 356 enthusiast models, the 356A 1500GS like yours, the 356B/C coupe + the 356 B/C convertible roadster).

I was thinking of putting my Hasegawa Type 2 Single Cab VW into my Fujimi Garage kit, with detailed 356 engine in the back of the truck. Another idea was to put the 356 coupe in the garage, with the rear end on jacks, and the engine out an on a table in the garage. This could be my 2004 project after I finish my Audi Quattro Coupe.

I like the idea of #1, but fear for your health if you undertake it.

How would you accomplish the effect of "at night"?

Question

Not a clue ????????
Do you really plan like that......i mean so far ahead. I just build whatever i fancy then when i'ts done i get on with the next one. BUT.......the one problem i do have is.........if iv'e too many kits and i'm about to start a new one it's sometimes hard to choose. So i reckon 5-6 models stored at once is enough.
Later, Mike

Hi all,

Thanks for your votes.

I'll try to answer some questions:

@ pettercardoso: All these projects will take me more than one year to achieve but the next project I'll begin will be in 2004. So...

@ EMAXX: I bought the Esci Rabbit in a swap. It's now a very rare kit, I don't know where you could find one. Maybe on Ebay.

@ DSM-Mark: I'll make Halogen-lamps under the tent (leds). So if I light the leds and turn my roomlight off, it will be the night

@ huudo: 1) A merc could be a next project. I'm waiting someone to offer me the SL from Baracca for my birthday .
2) I prepared a .txt file with text and html codes during this week so I only had to copy/paste and submit.

@ mike united: Same as you, I buy, buy, buy and then look at what is in my closet and say, "hhmmmm, what will be next?" I mix the parts together and can't decide. So it's why I did a poll. The AF-crew will decide for me.

Don't forget that this poll is opened for 90 days so everybody has enough time to decide which one to vote for.
You can also vote for more than 1 project if you want.

Right now, Project #1 is winning.

Thanks for your votes.

I think the major project for 2004 will then be 'Project #1: The historical race'.

But......

I always do two different things at the same time. As you can see in my sig I'm actually doing the 'Teardrop Diorama' and the 'Golf III'.
When I'm bored with one I turn my attention on the other one. It's good sometimes to change his mind.

So, if I have to choose for a second project in 2004, your votes are equal for:

'Project #5: Oldskool Karmann Ghia'

and

'Project #2: The silver bullet'

Only one vote can decide everything.

But it's still open untill 11-19-2003, nothing is really decided.

Xav
