What cars can you beat?

Hey everyone, fairly new to the board and to Del Sol's.. I don't have my own yet but hopefully soon. I'm just wondering if any of you know what cars I could beat in a stock S, stock Si, stock VTEC.. (I'm talking about dragging from light to light or 1/4 mile/fairly short strips).. if any of you have stories about beating ppl in ur stock Del Sol's plz share them... peace

I took my stock VTEC to the drag strip the other week (not really stock now though). I beat out a couple Eclipses. They weren't turbo though and I think they were also stock... or practically stock anyway . I might have fared better, but it was my first time to the drag strip so I'm still inexperienced at driving the 1/4 mile (plus my tires are almost bald ). Hoping to get better times the next time I go.

As for dragging on the street, I avoid that if possible. So far I've been successful.

I NEW 1st reply

I have an S and I'm proud to say that I can beat a stock mustang, so far any year. I have also beat older RS eclipses. I beat an auto 96 RS. But I cannot beat a 95 rs stick. I have beat many stock normal cars such as sunfire, and grand prix, Ive just recently added a home made CAI (see http://teamdelsol.com/technical/howt...ke/default.asp Teamdelsol.com is a wonderful site for meeting other Sol drivers ) and now I'm a bit faster. I once raced a 95 Lexus es 300 and lost but was very close. Now I can beat him. He got an intake (APC CRAP) and I still beat him. I just ordered a jet chip and hope to do other small mods. Unfourtunately i do have an S so I have just over 100 HP NOT MUCH I really wish I had a bigger engine. I am thinking of boreing it out. More on that later. Anyhoo, that is my racing so far

hey mydelsolrocks.not sure if ya got my message, but id wouldnt get $55 plugs if i wasnt boostin or sucking in major air and fuel for higher hps. stay with what your honda manual recommends.

No such thing as cheap mods for high gains. just take the basic route first. i/h/e

I don't really buy that. A stock Del Sol S has, like, 102hp which you say your engine's hp is still around the same. That's not going to do much against a Mustang unless you've got some mods done. Got some pics to back up 'yer mods?

Seriously though, some small mods that don't cost tons of cash might include better spark plugs and plug wires, intake, header, strut tower braces, and a general tuneup checking hoses, belts, and the like. Could get a better flowing muffler as well, but you won't notice that big of a difference unless you get a full cat-back system which is not as cheap.

Just take your time with the car.

I promise, I am stock except for the intake. Ok, the only "MODS" I've done are things I see as just helping my car last long. When I got my car I got new Cables (I think Bosch). I also use bosch platinum 4's and only premium fuel with the occasional injector cleaners. I made my intake using a AEM filter and by following the directions on teamdelsol.com
http://teamdelsol.com/technical/howt...ke/default.asp
AND IT WORKS WONDERFULLY. I also use max life oil for high mileage oil and that oil additive stuff (dont remember the name) AND I change my oil religiously every 3kmi along with the filter... If it helps any, the stang did have a passenger, and it was (from the sound of it) an auto. ALSO IF this didnt help me win maybe the fact that I had the AC off and new tires that were inflated properly and it was a bit chilly that nite...hell, i dunno, i beat him ok. I did.
I wont be able to post any pics just yet b/c my digicam bit the dust(it was dropped into a toilet<<<dont ask) But I do have some pics of a few months ago when I had my factory intake hose but the filter on... I'll try to post em friday or so ... Dont hold me liable b/c ill TRY

By 95 rs stick I hope you are talking about an integra b/c if you cannot beat a 95rs eclpise then you cannot beat any mustang unless it has a 4cyl. Sorry man I have a hard time believing that you can beat a mustang V8 with your sohc sol. I can beat them with my car but that is with the N20 and I know that my car would walk all over any sohc sol with just and intake on it, and that is without any N20 on my part. Sorry man it just does not sit well with me. I cal B.S

keep it off the street. Street punks like you are the reason that I have cops following me home, to work, out at night.. basically everywhere. They say "hey! Modded car! Let's go!" and they ride my ass home. And my ass is sore. So keep it off the effin street.

<<94solgrl I'm sorry. I did those races on a friends private property. He has about 10 acers and a lonnnng driveway they just paved and one nite we had a party there b/c he has a theatre in his house. ANYHOO I raced on private property with noone around.
