what cars can i beat?

i have a 93 sl and i was wondering what kind of cars can a sl beat alot of peaple say that sl's are tremendously slow....does any1 know that cars can we beat?

dude search back a couple of pages or use the search engine on this forum to look that up. We had all posted a list of cars we beat and our mods and such. lots of good info there. the SL is not slow people just complain cause of the wieght but the car is not as heavy as they think. most people are used to small light cars that produce 160hp, if you look at the power to weight ratio of your car youll see your right there with alot of fast cars. I know the SL's have killed GSTs, Mustangs, Camaros, one guy even mentioned having beaten his friends SRT-4, hard to believe but I'm not gonna challenge his claim.

The only cars you can beat are the ones you race. Just pick and chose safe times and locations and take the wins and loses as they come.

Probably boy racers with civics and cavaliers. Girls liek this car? None of my friends who are girls like it, they don't dislike it either though. One said she thought it was ok but that the eclypse was better looking.

How can an SL kill a Mustang?? ive raced a Mustang an he passed me at about 30 and got about a car length ahead of me.. and as far as beatin an SRT-4. that isnt possible.. that would stay right beside a VR4 in race, if not pass it .. ive had my car parked one time when i was in a gas station.. and this boy in this SRT-4 came up beside it..then spun tires, then hauled off... that punk

SLs beat regular stangs, and can get GTs if the driver sucks. I think I could take a regular stang and am open to going with a GT, I'll probably loose but it would be FUN! Damn I need a race, now that I'm on the lookout all the ricers don't want to race and give lame excuses about having more people in the car... Then they go on to say my car is too heavy...

Mine is an auto.. and i raced my friends 00' auto. mustang.. and his isnt a GT.. but ull find a race soon im sure

Sl will lose to Gt stang every time hands down unless he misses a gear. If he is automatic, then he can't even miss a gear. Sorry, but i'm very good at racing, had a year with my 99 sl and was as close as 2½ car lengths on Gt stang stock vs stock. Race some of the lower end sport cars like camaros, firebirds, grand am gts, etc...Weight WILL do you in on certain cars around your horsepower. I was beat by integras every time but not by much....Take Yogs advice...don't go looking for something u can beat....take the race as it comes to u and if it's a sure death, why embarass yourself? In other words, don't run with a vette. Good luck and always be safe.

PS- the cars i race, are the cars i hate....stangs, ricers, porshes, and bmws....i'll race others if they're friends of mine. I consider porshes my rival.

Another thing, girls love my car...not all of them...but i get lots of compliments where i live around St. Louis. There are so few around here and people love to see them.

Wow i hate when ppl say SL's are slow, especially if that comment is coming from a Honda civic owner. I swear just the other day my friend tells me "Yea man, so-and-so, got v-tec (130hp) in his civic. Now he's gonna beat you." I wuz like ........ "yo what can't you understand about my car being 222hp, 205 lbs. torque?"I mean SL's ARE heavy, but they can carry their weight. Some people have to learn how to respect cars above them, and just stop being totally bias of "their" car. I know my limits. Nysillest, 3kgt sl's are anything but slow, and dont let anyone tell you otherwise. Sure we aren't the fastest cars .... but that's when we 3kgt owners can brew up the "Who gets the girl?" argument

i'm just curious, what's the average time for an SL to run in the 1/4 mile. i know my suby WRX runs 14.5 and it's right around that 3200 lbs. mark with 227 hp and 218 torque. granted i do have awd, but i'm just curious as to what the 3000GT SL runs. i looked at buying a VR-4 when i had a mustang. very cool cars. i'd much rather have a VR-4 than my mustang. i love my WRX though.

The SL is a mid 15 second car out of the box. I've heard of times in the low 15s as well. Not to shabby.

Those WRXs are pretty sweet. Probably because of my age, I prefer more creature comforts, but it is a still a sweet car

Side note about the ladies...I have a '93 RED base. I've got rims, lowered, tinted windows, system, intake & the LADIES LOVE IT. I let one girl drive my car (my friend Susan) & she straight up loves me!! I live in Lou, KY so 3000GTs are pretty rare. but it's mostly cuz when they see it they think fast, red sports car. And it is!
