1997 CD player

I've got a 1997 Z28, and it's got a kickin sound system already in it from the last guy that had it, but when i went to play either a really new CD or a burned CD it gives me "ERR" (which im assuming means error) and spits it back out...... what's the cheapest way to fix this problem?

I have the same problem with my CD player. Sometimes it'll play burned CDs, sometimes it won't. I don't have any problems with regular CDs though.
