Need wiring diagram to make cigarette lighter hot all of the time.
I am trying to locate the wire color of the cigeratte wire from the fuse box so I can make it hot all of the time. I need to charge my cell phone when the key is in the off position.

Why would you need to charge your cell when the car is off? Just plug the damn thing in when you go to bed at night. Your battery should last for at least 2 or 3 days.

A simple question sure brought out the assholes on this forum! Are there any normal people that like to share information on this forum. Charging the battery while driving is NOT enough to keep the battery charged. I leave it charging in my Ford truck while not driving it because it has a hot cigarette lighter when the truck is not running. This is a nice feature and I am very surprised that Honda is behind times on this issue.

there are differences between American cars and imports... I havent seen an American car yet that doesnt leave power to the cigarette lighter when the key is off. i have also noticed that every import i have been in kills power to the cig lighter when you dont have the key on. ever notice how many little nice features get slipped into import cars that dont happen on american cars? like how you cant lock the door on a honda without using they key? (helps stop lockouts) the cig lighter is the same concept. they are trying to protect you from an accidental dead battery
that being said... it would probably be easier to find something that has power all the time in the car... like the brake lights or something like that and then connect the cig lighter to those wires. it would be pretty hard to trace the wires from the lighter all the way back to the fuse panel unless you have a wiring diagram which I don't happen to have. someone might? just make sure whatever you connect the cig lighter to has a high enough amp fuse to not blow it out when you try to use it

You can try www.jdmfan.com but it seems almost every time I try it the link is down... They have the best wiring help I've ever seen. The cig wire goes through your ignition, but I'm not sure where or how. There is a small wiring harness which connects the wires to the actual lighter, so I guess you could unplug that thing and connect some wires straight to the battery and solder/crimp-connect them onto the lighter. I'll check into it more and try to follow up.

First off, thanks for not being assholes.
1) My Superduty Ford truck has two cigarette(power outlets), one is hot when the key is on and the other is hot all of the time. This is a good thing! Charging a cell phone will NOT drain the two batteries in my truck and it won't drain the battery in my civic. This is just simple common sense! 2) I guess I have a piece of shit cell phone. I don't drive enough to keep the battery charged without leaving it in overnight. Any info on the color code of the cigarette lighter wire would be greatly appreciated. |

my crx keeps power to the cigg lighter all the time, and i can lock the door on my old 5th gen and my 4th gen without the key, you just pull the door handle and push the lock in. so you just wrote a lot of stuff that was wrong and prolly just made at least 5 people dumber, that's right DUMBER

ok again.... WHY THE HELL DONT YOU PLUG THE PHONE IN AT NIGHT IN YOUR DAMN house while you are sleeping? I think thats what 99% of the population does. Unless I wanna be you.. be cool and make my cigarette lighter hot all the time and charge my phone all the time in my CAR. Hey I'll be cool and make something where I could charge my phone in my backpack all the time too. WHAT IS THE POINT? unless you live in your car thats a whole different story. Also seems like you are in your car 24/7
