Found build sheet!!
Hello all,
Although I don't own a Chevelle, I am a big time "car guy". (My current Chevy is a 1969 "Z11" Pace car). However, my neighbor/buddy has a 1970 Chevelle, that he purchased about 4 years ago. It is a Cortiz Silver SS, 4 speed car. He got the car without the original motor, but knows where it is and is in the middle of trying to buy it back. (The car currently has a 1967 396) Anyway... He is not super knowledgable about originality, etc... Last night he called me and said, "Dave, I justy pulled the back seat out of my car and there were a bunch of papers stuffed under there". Naturally, I put my dinner aside and rushed around the corner. Mostly curious why, "a bunch"? Turns out, not only did he find his build sheet, he found 5 other car's build sheets that they stuft under the seat! What a find! Looks like the assembly workers shoved the previous 5 cars build sheets into his. He wasn't as excited about it as I was. Maybe I am just a freak. Was this a common occurance? All the other cars were shipped to out of state dealers. We live in San Jose, Ca. and his build sheet shows Courtesy Chev. (The local dealer). Also, although the original engine isn't yet in his hends, I check all the accessories, (dist., intake, exh. man. and even alt.) and they are all original and date coded correctly. So I guess the previous owner just swapped out the short block. Where can we get info on decoding many of the 2 charactor codes on his build sheet. (I know how to decifer the RPO#s) Any other ideas/advise/comments. Dave |

Re: Found build sheet!!
What a find!!! Very cool. Sorry I can't help you on your question though. Search the net. There has to be a site out there somewhere on this or possibly go to a dealer who may be able to help.

Re: Found build sheet!!
I think I've found what you're looking for at www.chevelles.com . Go to the site and scroll down. On the left side there's a box marked TECH. In that box click on Resto Shop. Scroll down until you see "De-coding" in red letters. Click on "option codes". I hope that's what you were looking for. Good Luck
