I've heard of people reaching 200k.Its just keeping up maintance on it and you should be ok.If the body is good u can always rebuild our new engine 2.0,2.4 or 2.7L

My '95 has 92K, the '96 has 110K, and my stepdad's '98 had 135K before he traded it on an '03 SXT. They all run perfectly, and they have all been serviced fairly regularly.

If the car you're looking at is well taken of, it should go at least another 100-200K easy, depending on how it's driven. If it doesn't, Neons are cheap and easy to fix.

My 2k has 96,000.

Too much is when it doesn't work any more.

<~~~156K and still ticking on the '97. Are you buying from a dealer or private party? If private party, ask them to provide you with all the maintainence records. If not already done, it will need a new timing belt and water pump. May need new plugs, plug wires, brake pads....of course depending on when this all was last done. Like already mentioned if the body is good and interior is nice too you can always build up the motor or do a swap.
