Stock air box or a K&N?

when i got my car the guy before me had taken the stock airbox off and fastened a K&N cone filter to the MAS and it is just lying on my fenderwell. i was thinkinng of ordering a amsoil replacement filter for the stock airbox and putting it back on. i figured if NASCAR's could make 700hp+ with 4 1/2" holes in the lid of their airbox it shouldn't effect my car that much. another question does anyone know of a good replacement intake???

what do you think???

K&N > Airbox with holes in it
unless you purposely trying to lose power

Buy a real turbo-forward intake, maybe an A'PEXi or an Injen. You'll get the power this guy seems to have attempted to simulate.

Yeah Dejon Tool makes some nice intakes for a nice price. I have one already for when I drop in my 2G MAF, into my car

Another alternative to the dejon intakes (injen is too much $$ IMO) is a homemade version out of ABS plumbing supplies. Home Depot racing at its best. I made one out of 3 inch ID ABS for 20 bucks. On the 14b it was good for 60 hz more flow. I forget what that translates to in lbs/min or g/sec, but its very worthwhile, especially for 20 bucks Its just 2 45 degree street elbows, one 3" to 2" rubber reducer, and one 3" to 4" reducer (to the MAF), and some creative shortening of the elbows and angling them to clear the water hose etc. If you have a typical RRE style j-pipe LICP, its a tight fit but it works.
