1991 Lebaron
Hi,
I have a '91 lebaron and it has been driving me nuts.It starts great and goes into reverse just fine but drive takes a few seconds to engage but when it does it drives fine for a little but as soon as I stop and start going again it shifts out of overdrive to low but if I turn it off and back on again the overdrive engages again.I changed filter and fluid with the correct fluid.I just wonder if I am looking at a rebuild or could it be one of the sensors acting up and needing replaced.I forgot to mention it is an automatic. Thanks for any help |

It could be the computer controlling the transaxle or you might need a rebuild. Take to a dealership, they can tell you.

Re: 1991 Lebaron
I have a 1987 LeBaron 2.2 turbo (Auto) convertible (red), which I plan to put up for sale soon, but I have an alternator that's not charging the battery. Unfortunately, I was told that it could be the alternator or some kind of diode in the computer. Can anyone put me in the right direction?

Ron, if you are really good with electrical circuits you can bypass the computer regulator, and install an old style chrysler one. It's not for the faint of heart, I might have to do it on my 95 Lebaron. I could follow up afterwards and let you know just how hard it is, otherwise bite the bullet and get a computer. Last time I checked they were down to about 180 at the parts store.
