blown motor???

driving down the road and go to switch into second gear and hear a bang and then the oil light comes on and then the battery light and some smoke and then the car shuts off. ???????

there is some oil located all over the firewall in the engine bay as well.

Take a flashlight and see if you can look at the back of the block. See if there is a large leak or if you can see any external damage. Then get under the car and check there. Also drain your remaining oil and see if there are any foreign objects in the oil. You can also take off the oil pan and check to see what kind of condition the bottom end is in.

Sounds like you just broke a rod and probably broke a hole in the back of your engine. Take a peek back there.

that's EXACTLY what happened to my 90 CRX DX. We still have the piece of the block that was blown out :P

Sounds like you threw a rod out the back of the back of the motor. If you're lucky, the head is salvageable.

yeah there is a baseball size hole in the back of the block. lucky me. it was a b16 i had put into my dx. well i guess im shit out of luck. lol owell that just means something new.
