Oil dipstick tube question

Quick question about my 67 camaro. I have a small block 350 v-8 and currently, the oil dipstick tube is loose. I would like to replace it. Is there any kind of seal between the tube and the engine block?

The catalog company (NPD) states that the fit between the tube and the block is good enough, but it seems like there should be an o-ring or grommet or something.

Any advice?

My oil dip tube was loose since i bought chev s10 4wd blazer 2.8 v6 5 yrs ago. I asked at garage and was told don't worry about it. Now it is broke off where it enters block. It should have had it's upper tab secured to stop it from moving and eventually cracking and then finally breaking i guess.

For you, if it's support tab is fastened, you may be okay. if losing oil out there a little bit maybe you want to wrap just enough teflon tape to snug and seal it up. but beware you don;t break it trying to get it out. i tried removing one from wreck recently. it moved a little back and forth after i unbolted the tab. but no amount of force got it to pull out. had vice grips on tab and 2 foot bar leveraged under grips for about 100 lbs force. only option then is dropping oil pan and tapping it out from inside.

Anyone ever see some kind of adaptor in store for broken tubes that would fit in block side and over tube side ?

New tubes have an interference fit in the block, that is the outside tube diameter is slightly bigger than the inside of the tube. These tubes are pretty soft and deform a little when they are tapped into the block, making a tight seal.
However, they are only good for a couple of removals before the interference fit is no longer there and they loosen up.
The best remedy is a new tube. It will fit fine without any other sealers.
A fine layer of anti-seize compound on the end will ease removal if required in the future.
