Angry Goddamn Speed Cameras!!!!

Shit, goddamn, fucking bastards!!! I think I just got done by a speed camera on my way to work this morning!!

The stupid prick was hidden in some trees on a steep downward sloping hill (nice place to hide wanker!!). I didn’t see him until I was only a few metres away.

I’ll be so pissed off!! This’ll be my first ticket ever!

Shit, goddamn, fuck!!!!!!

Sorry.

How does a speed camera work? I've only ever seen red-light cameras.

If you got caught in the pic, clearly, I doubt it will be any points to your license. At least that is how it is here in the states. The most that should happen is that you will get a pic in the mail along with a fine that the owner of the vehicle has to pay.

If they have a sense of humor over there, you could send them a pic of the check!Don't really try this, they won't find it funny.

OK, this is how it works over here.

They sit a camera in the back of a car (usually a Camry stationwagon) and they put it in places where you can’t see them very well from the road (meanwhile saying that they don’t have hidden cameras!! Yeh right!! )

The camera takes a photo of your car (with a view of the licence plate and driver?? (I think)!!

It won’t mean that I get any demerit points, just a bloody big fine!!!

Well FTO Girl, this may be a bit out of left field so to speak, but to avoid fines you could try "not speeding". I have tried this many times before and it works a treat!!! (hehe tongue firmly in cheek).

Although if I remember Auckland driving conditions correctly, the speed limit is unofficially the fastest speed you can get to the bumper of the car in front of you before someone jumps into the gap.

That sounds about right! Unfortunately!

Here, they have cameras at intersections that have traffic lights. If you happen to run the light, 3 pictures get taken. One showing you beginning to take the light, the second one a pic of your plate and finally the third showing you that you kept going.

All you get is a fine for (In NYC) $50.

But it still sucks paying that out.

Oh, how right you are! I know that I am totally to blame and it is entirely my fault for exceeding the speed limit. However I do disagree with the placement of this damn thing. It was on a steep downward sloping hill where you can easily get up to 80 Km/h without touching the accelerator.

I’m not looking forward to receiving this little bill in the mail considering that I think it’s $10 for every km over the limit you are travelling!

you do get demerit points dont you?
how fast do you think you were going?(this may have been asked before, i didnt read them all)

how come they're always in a camry stationwagon?
we live across from a rest area and theres usually a camry wagon with the back up and a camera hanging out the back.
he's there atleast 5 times a month (kep in mind this is in a rural setting)

I could be wrong but I thought that you only got demerit points if you were given personal attention (i.e. the cop had to chase you!! )

I think I was doing about 68km/h in a 50 zone.

Heres the fines from here http://www.police.govt.nz/service/tr...ements_faq.php

01-10 kms/h, $30 fine, 10 demerit pts
11-15 kms/h, $80 fine, 20 demerit pts
16-20 kms/h, $120 fine, 20 demerit pts
21-25 kms/h, $170 fine, 35 demerit pts
26-30 kms/h, $230 fine, 35 demerit pts
31-35 kms/h, $300 fine, 40 demerit pts
46-50 kms/h, $630 fine, 50 demerit pts
51 kms/h or more, Traffic offence notice

You dont get demerit points from a speed camera so you will get a $120 fine and no demerit points

Not too bad then. I was expecting to get one for about $200. That makes it a little better I guess.
