What about a contest

I currently haven't heard of any going on, is there? If not we should start an AF one. What does everyone think, yes or no? If yes give some ideas and maybe a MOD can start one up.

We just had two, with mixed results, though all the entires were great.

We also have the AF Model of the Year contest which will be in December. Start building your entry now...

Maybe this is a little too soon for suggestions, but should we maybe have a couple different categories for this year`s contest? Last year, there were about 40 entries, and I am thinking this year there will be *alot* more, judging by how busy this place has been. Or is that just me, Jay?

I agree that we've seen a lot more traffic in here recently, with a lot of great modelers joining the fray. We'll have to discuss options for the contest when it gets closer... With that, I defer to PMan, since he did such a wonderful job of coordinating it last year.

I don't think it's too early to think about categorizing the entries, because it's quite difficult, and takes some time for discussion.
For example, if you focus on the building skills, you can have street and racing cars in one category, but comparing Revell Civic and Tamiya FW24, sounds somewhat awkward, if subject type is taken into account.
But subject can only be subdivided, if there are enough entries in each category, so it's probably a little too early for that. (We'll need a few hundred entries for this, I think.)

I don't think we need so many, but I think box stock and modified should be in separate categories for fare judgment of the building skills.

Unassembled diecast kit, or disassembled diecast might be all right, as long as it's built and painted in the way plastic kit is done, but this needs a farther discussion.

My proposals are:
1/24, 1/25 plastic, resin, metal, diecast or hybrid of those.
Both assembly and paint required

And the rules to be discussed:
* Presentation method: How many photo per vehicle? How big are they, 640x480 or 800x600?

* Box stock (out of the box)
How strict, this should be? (Just the kit, glue and paint?)
Commercial decal and decal swap from other kit allowed? (I'd say no.)
Is lowering considered as fixing the imperfection? (I'd say yes.)

* Modified
Any restrictions?

* Subdivide by subject, such as street, competition open and closed wheel? (I'd say unnecessary.)
