rear end slams when i go over bumps

well when i go over a bumps it feels like the rear like jumps and then it just falls down and this big thump happens. is this normal with all g20's or is it just me??... its annoying ... is it cause the rear end is a lot lighter than the front?... all i have in the trunk is the spare and all... would it be better if i just put a sub box back there so it doesnt pop up ?

oh yea shocks are all fine cars is still brand new...

your shocks might be blown. is your car lowered? if it is, did they cut the bumpstops? maybe they cut too much?

My P11 did the exact same thing. Its really weird.
I put a system in my car and since there is more weight back there it doesnt do it anymore.

I'm pretty sure it's a suspenion travel issue. I has this same problem after I lowered the car, but I cut my bumpstop and put in the motivational.net rear plates and it's much more civilized now.

I know exactly what you are talking about, mine do's it everyday coming out of my office's parking lot. I think it is because of the beam suspension in the back not letting one wheel down at a time so one wheel will be ready to fall while the other is still on the bump and when it goes over the back just pops the tires back down on the ground. I think this is probably what is happening unless you have done suspension work then it might be something else. If you have not messed with the suspension and it’s doing this than just do what I do and make sure you go real slow over any kind of bumps and take them at an angle.

My 99 P11 does the same. I always go slow over spead bumps. Even when I creep over them, I still hear that noise. I doubt my suspension is blow b/c . . . I know when a suspension is blown. I think that the back end is so much lighter that when it hits the bottom of bump it almost hops I guess. I don't think its a really big deal, I just have to go extra extra extra slow over the speed bumps.

It does sound like a travel problem. Now, you're sure it doesn't slam and not scrap. I used to have this problem before I rolled my rear fenders. If your wheel are stock, it's almost definitely a travel problem. Maybe your shocks are shot. Regardless, I go over at an angle...slow, even when my suspension was stock. It sounds like P11 owners have this problem more than P10 owners without blown shocks.?????Don't know.

It seems to me it would be because the trunk is too light because mine no longer does it after having stuff in the trunk.

I think this may be a problem with P11s more than P10s. The beam axle in the P11 allowed the manufacturer to transfer more roll stiffness to the rear - so the P11 rear suspension may be considerably firmer than the P10.

It's all good. But it kinda sucks. You creep up to a speed bump and then

Don't worry..

ViET-G20,

Yes, seems we all have that same problem. Rest assured, you have others who's going thru the same problem. It happens on the Maxima as well, I had an '96 Max SE, same Multi-link rear suspension setup. The thumping really hurts, cause it feels like someone lifted the back end of the vehicle and dropped it onto the ground..

I doubt this is covered under Warranty ?

Cheers
