March/April of 2004 is the current release date for Halo 2, but X-Play did post the game play footage trailers for Halo 2. You can get a good feel for the game and what to expect. If you want to see them...

I thought they moved it up to November of this year since that's when most everybody's XBOX Live subscription ends.

At E3 it was made clear the game would not make it this year. Xbox Live is important, but Halo2 sales will be more affected if the game is buggy or super short. Halo continues to sell well because it was a quality game. I believe Bungee and Microsoft must be careful not to push out Halo 2 before it is ready. The backlash for doing something like that could hurt Xbox sales.
Xbox Live is already beating Micxrosofts projections. No doubt Halo 2 would be a great asset for Xbox Live to have now or for Chirstmas, but they will be fine. There are enough solid titles for the Xbox and many good ones for Xbox Live. The only minor blow to Xbox Live was EA Sports library being focused on the PS2 Online community. With Xbox sales continuing to climb, I suspect EA will be working closer with Xbox in 2004. I just wish I had a high bandwidth connection so I could play Xbox Live at home. Don't expect Halo to arrive in 2003. Spring of 2004 is the earliest we will see it. For now people will just have to play games like Mace Griffin Bounty Hunter. Doom III and Half-Life 2 are the other titles for first person shooter fans to dream about until they hit the market.

true the first game is almost always better than the sequel.
but for halo bungie said that they wouldn't do anything that would change the basic gameplay of the first one...so they decided on adding to it like the running and a melee attack combo...i can't wait for halo to come out!!! |

Microsoft has to much riding on Halo 2 to allow it to be a bad game. Gran Turismo, Grand Theft Auto, War Craft, Civ, Madden, and many other games usually get better with each new version. Eidos and 3DO are two companies that milked games by releasing unimproved or worse sequals. If Halo 2 is a great game, Xbox sales will jump higher. Xbox is already enjoying an increase in sales. I am sure Bungie and Microsoft know how much is a stake. If Halo 2 is just a rehash of Halo, then sales will be good, but not great.
