help with an 83 prelude

Hey my cuz is having a problem with her 1983 prelude. the engine keeps cutting, we are drivng along, 3000rpms and suddenly the rpms drop to 0 the two seconds later the engine kicks in. Well this happened again at a light, and the engine died, took fifteen minutees to start up again. Needless to say she doesn't want to get caught on the freeway when this happens again. I am pretty sure it's an ignition problem, I am just wondering if anyone knows of common problems that could cause this. Maybe the coil? Coil wire? Please help me out, I am not familiar with the honda engine and it's common problems. I am sure this is something pretty simple, thanks!!
