Re: 1997 bmw color options?
It should be on your driver side shock tower. Ofcourse its in german but put it into a translater. Alot of the times the color is in the german word. Example: bluemaguheil or something like that.

Tourmaline Violet is a genuine BMW color, although I can't envision it in my mind's eye.
I have the 1998 BMW 7 Series brochure, and 346 "Navarra Violet" is quite a dark gray with a mild purplish tint. That color is only available with a N6MK "Lavender Gray" interior, a bit darker than the more common N6TT "Gray" leather. Other 7-Series colors for 1998 are Alpine White, Jet Black, Arctic Silver met., Aspen Silver met., Cashmere Beige met., Orient Blue met., Biarritz Blue met., Calypso Red met., Vermont Green met., and Oxford Green met. Again these are 1998, not 1997, although most colors will be carryovers. Like Antiburn said, every BMW I've seen has had the German color name printed on the shock tower (under the hood). Don't think it should be too hard to figure out, i.e. Vermontgrün metallic, Orientblau metallic, or Alpinweiss (I think that's how it'd be!). Or Sterlingsilber metallic.
