92 camry, reverse lights quit
The reverse lights on my 92 Camry stopped working. I checked the fuses and changed the light bulbs but that didn't help. Every once in awhile they will come on for a few short seconds but that's about it. Any help would be highly appreciated. Thanks.

Well, I learned from another forum that the problem may be the "neutral safety switch" in the auto transmission. I understand that it the part itself is about $200. Is it worth making the repair considering labor cost is going to be high too?

Re: 92 camry, reverse lights quit
You might want to test your neutral switch with a test light first before you think about changing it. I thought that it was the problem in my '92 Camry I used to have. It wasn't. The switch tested OK. There was a short somewhere in between the switch and the b/u lamps. Never did find the short, (too many wires) instead I ran a new wire from a wire I found that would light up the test lamp when I put it in reverse.
This is what you may have to do. It's the cheapest route. |

Kaskillah,
Thanks so much for the info. I wouldn't have thought of that but I'll certainly try it before putting $$$ into a new switch. Quote:

GTS91,
Thank you very much. I'll check it first thing in the morning. |
