Why 4-2-1 Headers?

Why is everyone going out and buying the 4-2-1 Headers? If they knew anything they would know that the 4-1 Headers are the way to go. Honda engines lack in low end torque and the 4-2-1 Headers are for mid range and top end. If you really want to make improvments in strip racing in streets or short runs like a 1/4 mile you would be best to go out and get a 4-1 Header thats what i did with the advice from many performance stores such as www.modacar.com and www.slickcar.com. but isn't 4-2-1 better for high rpm?....so if you have say vtec you woul prolly keep the rpms up high? therefore 4-2-1 right?

I don't really know i've been trying to figure this one out cuz i want to get headers for my 93 gs-r and everyone says something different, I've also heard that 4-2-1 is better at all rpm (torque and hp) but 4-1 is only better at low rpm hence more torque but not hp.

I just want a straight answer so i can spend my 350 already.....

4-2-1 is better for low end and mid, 4-1 is better for the top end, and supposedly you lose a bit of low end, but once youve gone through first in a race, you never are at the low end of the powerband, so then a 4-1 would be better. but since honda engines do lack torque, people go with 4-2-1 to get a bit of punch down low, and even a 4-2-1 is gonna give you more top end than the stock manifold.

people arent racing 24/7, they want some get up and go when they're just cruising, not when they're at the strip. although wrong you said that 4-2-1 is for mid and top and 4-1 is just top. why get something thats just top when you can get mid AND top...

4-2-1, like 94tegRS said, is for low and mid, 4-1 is for top.
