Whats this Accord worth?
My brother has a 91 Accord LX 5spd 230k+, stock, runs good, no leaks, air needs to be fixed, CV joints need replacing (how hard is this to do?), but the car was in a hail storm and is pretty beat up from that. No other known problems. He wants to sell it to me but we dont know what a fair value is. Can anyone help us out? I dont think that nada would help us our because it shows the resell value... Basically how much would you pay for it? Also does anyone have the specs on the engine? BHP, tourqe, ect...
Thanks in advance |

This car is sounds pretty rough!!! I would say it is worth ~$1,500 - $1,800. Sense this is your Brother you are getting it from, then definately $1,500 or less. CV joints suck to change!!! Are all the CV joints bad?? If so it would be a few hundred to have a shop do it for you. And if you do it yourself it would take most of a day to do, possibly two days.

Ok thanks guys!
Hes probably going to sell it to me for $1200, seems fair to me, could have it up and running good for >$1800, which would be a great thing... And who knows maybe some body work in a couple yrs, then maybe a swap later on, or possibly before body work... U guys think this car would be worth it to put the money into all that? Or should I just save up for a CRX or Civic and swap one of them? Oh one more question he has a CRX and he said he ran the car for quite a while with bad CV joints and didnt have any probs besides the ticking when he turned, is there a safety issue or any possible long term damage with not getting those fixed right away? I mean what exactly do the CV joints do? |

Go to kbb.com, get the blue book value, and he should charge you about half that.

If u want a fast car, get a crx and do a swap. If u want a pretty fast car that looks good too, go with the accord. But if ure looking for speed, get the crx. I have a friend with a crx and his car smokes my accord.
