Just wondering if anyone has any thoughts. I recently bought a 1987 944S. It was running fine until the other day. I was driving home and suddenly I couldn't get the car to go into gear. I managed to nurse it home but.... Now when I try to get 1st or 2nd gear or reverse, it wont go in, like I'm trying without depressing the clutch. It will get in 3rd, 4th or 5th but it takes some effort and will roll a little bit even with the clutch depressed. Does this sound like a siezed bearing or maybe the rubber center of the clutch has deteriorated. It looks as if the slave cylinder is pushing as far as it needs to be through the inspection window.
Thanks a lot, Kevin |

Re: 944S clutch mystery
Yeah, I know that feeling of trying to milk it home. I did locate the problem. The original clutch disk on these cars has a rubber hub instead of springs. I've learned that the rubber, as it gets old can come apart and wedge itself in-between the clutch disk and pressure plate, thus not allowing the torque tube to stop spinning and not allowing you to change gears. I bought a new centerforce clutch...installation is a bitch, but there is an article which was a great help at http://www.tech-session.com/kb/index...x_v2&id=79&c=4
Thanks, Kevin
