Bentley EXP Speed 8 - Le Mans winner 2003 - Provence Moulage 1/43
Ok, I can at last show you some photo's of the painted model. It's far from completed, but as I always like to think : I've taken the first and most important horde

Looks awesome so far Guy!
What types of primer did you use, seperate metal and resin types or just the one? Green looks great, is that just a hint of metal flake to it? When LMM update their 1/24th Bently to a 2003 version I'll be very tempted to get one... |

Great progress, looking forward to more photos. (I'd like to build one myself, but am not sure whether I can handle 1/43 resin).

![]() I bought a spray can of Motip acrylic car paint n° 53598 (the kit recommends "Renault English metallized green R 963" which matches the Motip car paint according to the color catalogue of Motip) to spray paint the body (2 layers). After drying I put a layer of Tamiya clear on top. Actually this kit recommends "Rolls Royce Green 9560016", but I couldn't find that color in any color catalogue and since I still had my Bentley building plan of the 2001 model, I took that color instead of the recommended one. They are indentical in my opinion. I also did 2 major stupid things, I'm almost to embarrassed to tell them... 1) After fixing the windows and thouroughly masking them (they are partly painted in the same bodycolor so this was the only way to do it) I started to primer the body. Only after the body was dry I found out that I forgot to mask the window insides!! They were completely covered with primer from the inside, so I had to remove it with aceton. I've been feeling like a gyneacologist for a few hours, because the body is only 1/43 and on top of that the tiny windows are very hard to reach from the inside!! After the cleaning job I put a clear coat on the inside of the windows with a brush. The damage was 95% healed. I was happy again. 2) After spraying the 2 green layers, I thought that the body needed at least 1 coat of clear on top. While I was spraying the Tamiya acrylic clear coat, suddenly I thought it would be a good idea to spray the inside of the windows as well to smoothen the brush job even more and to achieve the 100% healing stadium again... AArrhhggg!!! Have you ever seen the movie "Bean", where Mr bean tries to clean off the painting of "Whistler's mother" and after a few seconds the chemical reaction starts to ruin the complete painting? That was how I felt when I realized that i had just sprayed a layer of acrylic paint over enamel paint : DISASTER!! Everybody knows you should never do that, I also knew that, but in a stupid moment I thought it to be a good idea... So once again I have been playing for gyneacologist all night and once again the damage has been healed. One thing is for certain : I will never forget this lesson for the rest of my life!! |

looking great so far!
Sorry about the misfortunes you had. Sometimes, I run into that too. Have a set plan, executing that and then at some point, there's a wild idea, you go for that and nearly destroy half the work you've done. So no more wild idea's without giving it a deep thought. I agree with Rallyraider on the gyneacologist quote, being the best so far Great work! |

The CF of the dash seems a bit heavy IMHO, but changing that would mean a lot of 'surgery' work and probably it won't be that visible once closed. Looks good so far. Will be an impressive piece once finished!
Keep 'em coming, those pics. |
