Wink Accord vs TL-S vs RX-7 (kinda)

I'll try to keep this short and sweet.

I was on my way home from work yesterday with a KILLER headache. No radio, drivin speed limit. I make a left turn onto a pretty big road (2 lanes each dir. Golf Rd in Morton Grove/Skokie for those in Chicago area) and this old school late 80s RX-7 rides my ass during the turn then pulls next to me after. He revs at me a lil (I don't know why, I drive a friggin Accord ) and then gives up, proceeding at a semi moderate speed. Eventually he gets caught behind a slow moving car, I pass him and go on about my business, not really wanting to race cuz I got a headache.

I get to the next light and there's a new Acura TL-S waiting. I pull next to him, I see him glance over, look at the rims and make his assumption that my goal in life is to race him on my way home from a 9 hour workday. He inches, light turns, he takes off, then the RX-7, having freed himself from slow traffic, comes zooming by too! I can stand being left by one car, but at this point the temptation was too great! I tried my best to floor it (I was doing about 25, already in second gear) and caught up by the next light. The TL and RX were already lined up, I got behind the TL and hoped for the best.

Conclusion, I watched as both cars slowly became dots in my windshield. I was giving a lil bit of a fight through first and second gear, but once we hit 60ish, the gap stretched from like 2.5 cars to like 4!!! From the looks of it, the TL won the race. They kept going, bobbing and weaving through traffic, I gave up and turned off for more tame traffic.

All in all, it was fun, but it only made my headache that much worse. I don't like to lose, but I guess I should stop racing RX-7s and TL-S with my stock Accord then

Nice try anyway

Could you tell if the RX-7 was a T.T. or base? It was probably a T.T. to keep up with the TL-S

I'm thinkin it was TT. I dont know much about early RX7's but it had dual exhaust. And it kept up with the TL pretty nice. or that's what it seemed like from my angle (behind )

Yeah, they can be pretty quick in tuned properly. But with the wrong mufflers they can be terrible loud and annoying. Not to mention the horrible styling.
I love the 93-95 body style but can't wait to see the RX-8 on the road

Yeah, the styling is But the 93-98 is beautiful. Have you ever noticed the similarity between the taillights of the mid 90s RX7 and the 97-98 Ford Taurus? I dont really like the styling of the RX8 though. Its alright, but its a lil to "Zoom Zoom" for me. The new design looks a little too much like they designed it specifically for Xmen. Kinda spaceshipy IMO. Same with that Lexus SC430

FYI: They didn't have TT (Twin-Turbo) RX-7's in the 80's, unless it was custom. They had the Turbo II, but no TT.

Okay, well I guess not. Would the Turbo II have dual exhaust and the Turbo I not? Seems unlikely.

I was under the impression that the GTU was a TT version.

Nah. No visible or clearly audible mods at least. Stock exhaust/ride height/wheels/tires. Plus he got away from me so quick, I had no time to look.

Ditto, I love the Turbo IIs from 88-91. I dont like the 89s+ though because of the automatic seatbelt, and I dont like the 87s cause the hatch looks a little weird compared to the 88s
Dunno just me

FYI, All 2nd gens had dual-exhaust (if I stand corrected). Easiest way to tell if the Rexs a Turbo II is by looking at the hood. If it has a hoodscoop then chances are its a Turbo II. Also no verts were turboed.
