ebay bidding tips

Anyone got good tips how to bid on ebay, trying:

a) to win;
b) to spend as little money as possible in the process...

A common method is "sniping." Watch an item until the last minute, then post a bid. It works well if you have two windows open: one with the bid ready to submit (the second "review" screen, not the item screen), the other window to refresh to watch the official ebay time.

I like bidding on things with no bids. I also put a lot of things on my "Watching" list, even if I don't really want to buy them yet, so I can see how much they go for.

Also watch for other bidders who always seem to bid on the same things you do. That happens to me a lot.

Yeah, I agree, sniping is the best. This way keeps the price down when everybody snipes, because there isn't people constantly bidding on it and balooning the price; so it stays low until the big price jump at the end.

Also, look to see if they have the shipping charges listed sometimes they rape you with it. I've seen $11 shipping on a $5 item!

I have one hour left till my bid closes and I'm currently winning. I know someone's gonna snipe it cuz I've been eyeing other auctions for the same item for a few days now.

I tend to never bid on an item until the last 5 seconds. I find I will alway swin what I want then. I use the method Jay was talking about.

Yeah, I got 5 minutes left on an item I want. That's why I'm up at almost 3 am!!!

Thanks for the tips. I, unfortunately, let the price on a tamiya Primera balloon (not smart, could have taken it for less). Now I'll be smarter...
