Are you sure its a base model? Base models had 161hp not 222. The SL models are the 222. Anyway, there are some guys who've tuned up their SLs and RTs (stealths equivelent) to be quite a bit quicker. Stop in www.3si.org and go to the NA section on modifications. There are more threads in there then I care to repeat here.

As for off the line - move on to a VR4 and you'll be right on top of thw world

That is absolutly right. My bad. I forgot that the Base and SL on the 3000 keeps the same drivetrain. Its the Stealth that has a difference between the Base and the RT. Dave has a real good site. Another site other then www.3si.org is Jeff Lucius' site http://www.stealth316.com/

Just in case your interested. The 3000 is a fairly rare car. Here are the production numbers. As a comparison, there are about a quarter million Accords sold a year.

I hate to tell you but to get it really fast isn't going to be all too cheap. You can start out with intake, exhaust (cat-back and then throw in a testpipe and new dp, ud pulley and that should gain you anywhere between 20ish-40ish hp. Thos numbers might be a bit off but I'm tired and don't feel like looking them up to be sure. That shouldn't cost you too awful much but that's about where the cheaper mods stop. Then you're looking at a TT swap, S/C or nitrous basically. You can always get various things port and polished or bore out the TB or even new camgears but that's gonna cost ya.

Check out the staged upgrades for a n/a here and also look at all the available parts. DR is really trusted in the 3S community.

Yogs, not to question any of ur superior knowledge, for i am but a lowly folower of urs, but if ur charts are correct than that would directly contradict what u had previously told me. u had told me that there were only 45 '99 VR4s, and yet ur chart here says there were 287... i seek clarification master...

No problem. Those numbers are the world wide production of the 3000. Of those for 99, 45 are in the States. In fact, the only numbers there that are wholly in the US (Canada got a few too I think) are the Spyders.

Go ahead and question whatever you want. Its how things get clarified or corrected. We all make mistakes and I sure make enough of them.

Well if you buy directly from them then you would want to buy them in that order and yes the listed price is for the listed item in each stage. But I'd use those more for guidance, kinda like an outline. You can do them in any order you wish. Basically, first you want to free up air flow (open element intake and newer, free-flowing ehxuaust (a new downpipe and testpipe are controversially the best upgrades an n/a guy can get)) Then it's time to find any lost power (this is where an underdrive or light weight pulley comes in) and if you are a manual a new clutch and flywheel. Then maybe some new plugs and wires and you'll be doing just fine. Just take it one step at a time and good luck. Feel free to PM if you have any more questions and I'll do my best to answer them.

I have an update to the number of 99 VR4s sold in the states. (if anyone cares). The 45 number that i have been using is false. I've been quoting 99 sales numbers and made an ASSupmtion that the rest were sold elsewhere. It turns out there were a more sold here then that. At this time the number being bantied around is around 200 or so between here and Canada. Compared to the 200,000+ Accords sold (in the U.S. alone) that year, 45 to 200 isn't much of a swing in the exclusive category But, I just thought I'd point out my mistake.

wow, someone brought back an old post.

just for clarification:
91-96 3000GT base is 222hp, 97-99 base is 161hp
stealth base is 161hp, stealth es is 161 with the DOHC 222hp as an option.

and a few spyders have been found in junk yards in japan, and thats actually were the targa parts are comming from. 1 rumor was a very rich guy, another was mitsubishi heads wants them, no one knows for sure.
