Question nissan noise coming from right front wheel

I have a 93 nissan maxima. But I found that, after I drive a while (about 10 miles) there is some annoying noise coming from right front wheel when I drive in low speed and use the brake lightly. Especially down a slope. It went like something scratching some thing.
I do not know why.

if its a really high pitched squealing noise then its your brakes, just dust thats collected

Your brake pads have a low pad warning system. It's a simple metal tab that hits the rotor when your pads get worn. Take off the wheel and inspect the outer/inner pads for wear. I bet they only have like 1/8" left. When new, the pad is nearly 1.5" thick

jeff , wtf else would you spray off the rotors for? u think it makes some magic brake fairy come and fix them or somethin?

blasian

bron, jus go get urself a new set of pads and replace them. if that doesnt fix it, the piston in the caliper could be freezing up. i kno ur talkin bout the front and all, but i had one of my rear ones onthe max i used to have lock up and it make the worst screaching sound i have ever heard.

I know why, but I don't know HOW it would help determine if the pads were worn or not. It's way easier and better just to take of the wheel and look at the pad thickness.

Yo man, the same exact thing happened on my car like two months ago...same wheel too. Your rotor is shot, and you need to get a new one before you do some serious brake damage. I know the noise ur talking about, its not the chirp from the brake pad warning thing, its ur rotor.

Do you know how long it's been since the pads were replaced? If I had my guess you will need to replace the pads. Take off your wheel and look at your brake pads. If their thin, the wear indicator is probably what your hearing. Look closely at your rotars and make sure there aren't any deep grooves on the surface. If so you will need to either take the rotor off and go to the local parts store and have it turned...or buy a new one. Whether or not your rotor will be able to be turned depends on how worn it is. If what you hear is a high-pitched squeal then you can probably get by with just pads. (don't buy cheap pads they will squeak just as bad as old ones) If the noise is more of a deep rubbing sound then you likely need pads and rotors (or turned ones at least). If you don't know much about brakes then you should go somewhere and let them check it out. Just be sure to check it yourself first so that you are familiar with the problem. That way you don't get screwed around by some greedy repair shop.

Well spending 2 min at a carwash would yield clean wheels and that's about it. Why? Because squeaky rotors is NOT always worn pads.

I'm having a similar problem with the brakes on my 96 max. This afternoon I had nothing better to do so I took the left front wheel off and there was only about 1/4" of pad left. So, I'm guessing I should get new pads. Any suggestions on what brand of pads to buy, where I should get them, about how much it will cost, and how hard would it be for me to change the pads myself? Thanks.
