besides the actual modeling part

searched away, can't believe this hasn't been covered, maybe a database error?

what do you guys do? your obviously very talented and take pride in your models. I know some of you enter modeling contests so aside from the ones on the forums here what other ways do you go about this ?

what do you guys do? do you have a revolving glass enclosure in your livingroom for all to gasp over when they see it?

what else do you do thats modeling but not modeling? do you read (model car specific) magazines? do you belong to clubs in your area? if so what do you actually do in a model club? the thought of one, well...
I guess I just wanna know if you guys do anything modeling related besides build models then put them somewhere on display. I know it doesn't end there for some of you.
enlighten me. and obviously -

Personally, when I m about to build a model, I try to seek as much reference aterial as possible, try to buy different magazines, read up on the net .. which might take a lot of time, depending on which subject you model.

Then , once built , it goes along with my other models in my display closet in my room, and no-one is allowed to touch it .

And I don't enter any competitions or attend to club meetings, don't really know why, (guess I m not that good enough )

My models are the main feature of our living room and are a good talking point when we have guests.
Once finished they are put in there display case and sealed to keep dust etc off them

I used to belong to a model club but due to the type of people that go there i dont anymore. (They didn't seem to have much time for car modellers....all tanks/planes etc)

same here. my magazine collection is formidable...if the model is up to 8 years old, in can vertually guarantee that i have pictures somewhere.

i supose i am a perfectionist really

Well I build models just for the fun of it and to keep me sane!
Unless its a subject that Im really wanting to do some killer detail on I dont go out of my way to find ref pictures. I like to build stright from the box most of the time with some added features. I do however try to make a really good model because I do enter contests. And no you do not get models for 1,2 or 3 place. Most of the time you get a plack with the model compitions name on it and a 1,2 or 3 place label. Now if your really good and you get a best of show for your models then you get a really nice trophy!
Most of my models when I finish them go stright to my closet intill a model show. I useally show 3-5 models depending on the cost of entry fees. I dont win much but its fun to show off your models and see the reaction on peoples faces when they look at my models. I also belong to a local car model club and for the most part we sit around and bitch about how bad the judges are at judging model cars. LOL but there are people there that are selling models cheap and others displaying their cars. We also have every so offten a local contest just for the club with silly themes like red white and blue for July 4th and a Orange/Black contest for October.
Anyway like I said I build for fun and if I win something along the way the better for it!!
