Post E46 sport mirrors w/ turn signal

I am considering of buying a pair of sport (M3 style) mirrors for my 2001 325i They come with turn signals as well (kida like the new Mercedes mirrors). The person who's selling them can't tell me how difficult it is to wire the signals and my bodyshop guy thinks it's too much labor because you have to run wires through the door and under the hood to the switch or fuse box.

Does anyone have any idea how difficult it is or, even better, has anyone actually done it? Is there a signal wiring in the mirror plug?

Also, what's the best way to get rid of my stock mirrors? Some guy who owns a parts store offered me $150 for the pair - is that reasonable?

Thanks,
Sergiu

Don't know about how difficult it is to wire up the turn signals to the lights... knowing BMW the wires are probably already in place.... They always seem to pre-wire everything for the options. As for $150 for your current side mirrors. Take IT! The only person who is going to pay you for side mirrors is a thrifty one who has messed his up and needs to replace them... they are not a upgrade for the E36.

Wiring...

You could talk with a shop that specializes in 12 volt installations like alarms. They should have a good idea of what would be involved in the way of wiring. I would think there may be connections under the dash area....

go to this link, they give you directions on how to put the side mirrors that you want on. It is pre-wired, so there is no hasle of going through the hood and under all the crap he said. http://www.e46fanatics.com
i'm not sure though if they still have that type of mirror still on the website, but check it out, last time i was there i saw it.

It's so easy to wire those mirrors up.

Degree of difficulty is a non issue.

You get four wire taps and connect them to the side marker wires.

simple as that. :bandit:
