Angry The Media...

Well I'm pissed off, and apparently this is the place to vent it...

The media, yip, TV, magazines, even the internet. I'm sick of it. The blatent exaggeration and sensationalism pisses me of, not to mention the stupid human interest stories they often tack on the end of the news. Tonight for example on primetime news they ran a story about some farmer out in the wops whose name was "Evan Potter." What was this important primetime report about? It was about his name, yes "Evan Potter." Why the interest in his name? Well it turns out that his middle name is Harry. Yip, if you twist it a bit this country farmer's name is Harry Potter, and he made the news. A full 3 - 4 minute report on a farmer, just because his name happens to be that of a character in an over-hyped movie. Geez...

There, now I feel better.

The media suck. They'll twist and turn comments to make them fit with the angle they want for their story. Just look at the thing over here at the moment with boy racers. They showed footage of burnout comps at the drags and made it look like the guys were actually doing that in the city, making it look like everyone that's into cars is a hoon. Totally sucks!

Indeed they did do that, but get this... A few mates of mine were parked up in Auckland watching the camera crews and events unfold, then a TV3 crew comes over to them and asks them if they would do a few donuts for the camera. My mates sensibly refused citing the fact they weren't about to do something classified as dangerous driving on the national news...

What sucks is that I didn't know that story till you posted it! Now I know they wasted time on it and I wasted time reading it and now I'm wasting time writing this response. Damn! Its a vicious cycle!

The media has been a irritant of mine for some time now. I have to agree with you 100%.
