Question How do I install a CD Player in my '96 Grand Prix?

I recently bought a 96 Grand Prix and I'm having problems with the installation of the CD Play from my previous vehicle.

The installation guy at BestBuy told me that I needed to take the cover off my shifter and then take the center counsil in order to replace the CD player, but I find no way to do that.

Can anyone point me in the right direction for how you go about removing the part of that dash? That's my only real problem, the wiring shouldn't be too hard for me to figure out.

Any help you can give me is appreciated,

Matt Hines

I assume that you have a console shifter? If I recall correctly, the only part you need to remove is the surround around the radio/AC controls. All you do is pull it out, starting at the top, and it should just pop out enough for you to get to the radio. If you really want to go at it, there should be a few bolts holding it on at the bottom, underneath the dash a bit.
