Is there anyway of wiring the stereo so that u can run it while the car is switched off?

yes, disconnect the remote wire from the stereo, and connect it to the red or yellow (depending on what brand radio you have) +12 constant wire, although, i have had mine this way before, not only is it annoying to have to turn the radio off manually, but if listened to for too long with the car off will kill your battery which can lead to dead cells in the battery, then you will have to replace it.

talk to 4g4dstore... his works through a switch so he doens't even have to have his key in.
