Question Oil

Hi all first post on this forum. I have a E36 318i se 24k on clock, and two lights showing.I decided to change the oil and went for Halfords Semi synth.
Q.How often should u change the oil,and is Mobil1 really THE oil to use,or will any semi or full synth do.Many schools of thought on this one,so any comments would be welcome.

Cheers all,,,,,,,,Pete in UK.

I have the oil changed with the lights say so... about every 6-7k miles. I prefer to go with the sythetic. It lasts longer and the few extra dollars in oil will make the car last longer in general. There is really no ONE synthetic to use. The generics are all the same (mobil, castrol, penziol) {spelling} I seem to remember the castrol being the best of the 3 (slightly) and if you really want to do it right go for redline (almost twice as much but it's for a good cause. As far as transmission fluid (REDLINE)!!!
