late 80's Z-28

hey all, right now i own a 1996 chevy cavalier with some mods, and have the chance to trade it for a late 80's IROC-Z28 with the 305 in it. One question is it worth it? Also i am looking for a fast/dependable everyday driver car. Is this the car i want? What are the 0-60 or 1/4 times on these stock. And also this guy said he was gonna sell it for atleast 3500....does that sound normal cause i know my car is worth that
Thanks in advance

Few questions...
How many miles on the IROC?
Is the 305 the TPI motor?
Stick or auto ?

first 305s are not fast stock, they could be though with some mods. but i bet if speed is what u really want your gunna end up dropping a 350 in that iroc (if u do get it) i would not do the trade if it was a 350 tpi L98 then i would. just sell your car and go buy a f-body with a nice rebuilt 350 engine>350 is were the power is at so easy make fast rather then a 305.

Not for nothing, but you should keep the 96 cavalier and save your money for a sweet LT1 or good LS1...My current car is a showroom conditioned 1986 carbed 305 (Z28) and the insurance is a killer...unless you have a wealthy budget to trade in or buy the IROC throw a used 350 in there (unless you have 3 grand to spend on a new 350 HO) then 3500 isn't worth it at all especially with the raised insurance...save your money and enjoy the better engines...good luck

well insurance for the v6 should be lower than for the v8 since the 6 puts out less power, which to the insurance co., that means less dangerous. but then again it is still a camaro... "one of the deadliest cars made" so insurance is going to be high regardless
