Tamiya racing question...

Doesnt it seem weird to you that Tamiya doesnt actually sponsor any racing group? it seems that they have all kinds of connections in F-1, DTM, JTCC, etc... but ive never seen there name on a car. why do you think this is? they are obviously the dominate modelling company in many of these racing curcuits so you would think they would have a sponsorship department. just a thought really.

They really should but I've never seen a Tamiya sticker on any of the cars. It would be great advertising, like most of us the fans would love to build their favorite cars . I dunno

They do. The JGTCC Skylines are, for the most part. I knew the Pennzoil was, so I looked for a pic, and lo-and-behold, a slew of them are. The Loctite, Kure cars are. Maybe more but I don't feel like doint all the leg work. You can see the Tamiya logo right in front of the rear wheels.

Here's proof: http://www.automotivearticles.com/in...ssan/rgt-r.htm

Also, didn't you ever wonder why the kit's came with Tamiya decals to put on the car? Did you think tamiya just wanted to pretend they were badass (when, in fact, they actually are)? And now that I think about it, you can see it on Gran Turismo, even.

I wouldn't be surprised if they also sponsored, I don't know, a Raybrig NSX, or a Castrol one, or any of the other JGTCC cars they make models of. I just don't feel like finding them. Any one here willing to get off their lazy butt and find them?

And....

After further thought, they make a pretty large showing on Capcom's Automodellista. Not only can you put a Tamiya decal on your car in the game, but you can unlock a secret race track called "Tamiya," which is actually the RC circuit they have at their factory (or headquarters) in Japan. What's really boss about that is they make your car (whatever it is) look like a little RC car, with the body attachment posts and antenna, and make it all whiny and whirry like a little RC car is.

That's kind of a tangent, but interesting nonetheless.

sorry... my fault..though i cant see a Tamiya logo on any of those pics(bad eye site). but you would think they might have a more substancial sponsorship program then that like a secondary or driver sponsorship or such. i find video games to be really inaccurate sources for sponsors as well as there are liscensing issues. and Capcoms Automodellista is sort of based on R/Cing anyhow (yes i do research new race games as these are the only games i play with the exception of 2K hockey series as well as NFL... go Saints) and those cars are far from accurate, not to say its not a great new game( in fact its a very good game). but come on... one would expect a Tamiya Skyline at the least... and these photos still dont convince me... anybody else have something more substantial as proof?

A couple I had on my HD...

They probably can't afford to full-sponsor a car or team, so they place their mark strategically...

thank you... i feel 100% better! any others? and this sticker location is a very minimal sponsorship and i would think they would have much more money then this.

They used to sponsor the Lotus Formula 1 car when jonny herbert used to drive, they had stickers on the front wing. And they sponsored Tora Takigis PIAA Porsche 911.

They have sponsered a few over the years, can't remeber which now.

Ebbro and Tomica are two other model (albeit diecast) manufacturers that have sponsered race cars.

Hummm, I don't know if this is a good idea guys... they better keep the money from sponsoring to do something more creative, let's say hummm, lots of model as good as the Enzo kit !! Like a Audi TT DTM or a McLaren F1 GTR... you know, plenty of money to spend on loyalties there.
