Race report...

I was at Speedworld here in AZ tonight, at their "Street Legal" drags, complete with car-show and everything.

I sometimes wonder about all the hype about Mustangs (this is NOT a flame, just presenting an observation).

The majority of the BPU Fox-bodies were in the low 15-second range, with the exception of a few highly-modded ones(non street-legal), and this one red GT that ran consistent 14.7's. The '99-plus GT's had some 15-second runs of their own, with 14.7, 14.6 being the norm, with this one Mach1 that ran a 14.3. There was one representative of the 96-98 generation, but it never got a full run, since something blew on the motor, and spilled oil all-over the track, which gave a long pause to the racing. Damn Fords.

Now for people that were there and/or know current AZ weather...it was hot and humid, BUT, if you put it in perspective, there were street-legal, full-interior, motor-swapped Civic hatches, that ran mid-14's, high-13's...with some extremes, like one that ran 11's, and a turbo Civic that could only manage 16's.

The WRX's ran consistent mid-low 14's. There was an S2000 and a 350Z running also. They could NOT break-out of the 15's to save their lives. There was a black EVO VIII that ran a best of 14.3. The Chevy boys represented all night, except for this Cavalier that ran mid-high 17s, although the fastest car of the night was this Mustang full-on drag car that ran an 8.43.

Import Powerhouse was there with their ten-second, all-motor CRX...they had tranny problems, and I never got to see a full run. There was a stock Z06 that ran 12.9's against a worked Formula Firebird that ran a 13.0X against it.

Well, I'm getting sleepy and that's about all I can remember for now, so I'm going to sleep, and see if I can remember some more significant ones...thank you for reading.

BTW, saw a black RT/10 in the parking lot...nice.

Yaaawn...

Wow... Those are some anemic ass mustangs . What was the elavation, humidity, temperature? Those mustangs should have ran better times than that, especially the Mach 1

Yeah those times just dont make absolute sense. There must have been some pretty bad drivers there. I could have swore that the mach one tested in the 13's or 14's (I dont remember which).

"Tested" is the key word there, just because a professional driver can manage out of many many runs to pull that number, doesn't mean everybody else can.

Elevation = 1100 ft
Tempature = 115+ during the day, 100+ untill 12pm
Humidity = 35% (usually alot lower)

On other forums, ive read and know of some people running 13.1s all the way up to 13.7s. 14.3 just seems a little too odd. Its like reading of an LS1 running 14s... Yes it happens, its just odd.

I think it was actually more last night because of some of the moisture from "Claudette"(hurricane) coming over AZ.

LOL.

Unfortunately, no. I am having some MAJOR clutch slippage problems right now, and my poor college ass can't afford a new one right now. This is one of the reasons you guys haven't heard from me as far as kills/deaths lately.

Besides, if I'm going to run her, I'd want to be able to put all the available power to the ground.

As soon as my clutch is replaced though, I plan on going and running her.

carrrnutt those times for the WRX's are about right for a stock standard one. I've seen a few in the very high 13's but usually they will have the exhaust done only.

I don't know much about the Stangs's times or what they should be. only claimed but from what i have seen here, most of those claimed times were on a prepped track with perfect conditions. That seems to be with all cars. Not to mention they were in top running order.
