I have a 2002 C2 996 that has developed a stumble followed by a surge as you drive in normal traffic. It is particularly noticeable in 1st and 2d gear.
There is also a significant stumble right at 3000 rpm too. No engine light and the dealer acknowledges the problem but can't seem to fix it? I recently drove another 996 that has the same problem. Anyone heard or seen this problem before? |

No problems from the 911 owners I know of. You may want to check if one of your spark plugs are misfiring in one of the cylinders. That is all I can advise at the moment.

To answer you question
There has been quite a few 02 engine replacements
eg, Stalling when turning into sharp corners. All your questions can be answered here! www.6speedonline.com This is the best new forum out there for Porsche! See you there!

2002 996 3000rpm surge IS common
The 300 prm surge you are experiencing IS a common problem. A search of old posts on Porsche Club of America web page showed that this problem is not responsive to ECU remapping or to engine replacement. My 2002 996 cab does the same thing and if ANYONE knows how to fiw this very very annoying "ping" of power at 3000 rpm in first and second gear please tell us unlucky 2002 owners. 2003 also suffers apparently. My 2002 has done this consistently since new. HELP!
