Akira

i guess this one is a bit of a "classic" as far as anime goes, but what do you guys think of it? both the anime and the manga

i enjoyed it, but as i didn't READ the story i don't think i understand it too well.

Ive seen it several times-and everytime I see it I still dont really care for it.
I guess if I watch it again, Im thinking that this time I will figure it out and enjoy it better--nope not this last either. I guess I'll never figure this one out.....

I was somewhat unimpressed

it apparently inspired the Matrix but it seemed a bit of a mis. It's alrite but i think people of hyped it up too much.

Akira

The movie maybe a bit confusing, but it remains one of THE greatest anime ever. Period. It revolutionized the art form, and showed just how "movie-like" a cartoon could be.

Just out of pure curiosity, do any of you guys find a relation between Akira and Metropolis?

Inspiration

Doesn't it seem that Akira is the inspiration for every post-Apocalypse anime?

I know it inspired the South park episode with the trapperkeeper

the way he melded and grew all large and icky looking, like tetsuo did.

Akira was wicked - took me so long to find that movie on Laserdisc then it came out on DVD like a month later!

As for the story, yes it is a bit weird. Try watching that movie for the first time on shrooms(or was it 'cid) and it REALLY seems messed up - what with those huge hospital teddy bears bleeding/sweating milk???

THose were rediculous times.
