SR Project

hey guys.. i was wondering what u think of this project i wanna work on, whether i have a 240 or not.. i still wanna do this.

i was thinking S14 SR20.

bore it out to 2.2, or 2.4 if possible.

get the crankshaft bull-nosed and lightened by a professional so that it cuts thru the oil better and strengthens the bottom end.

add some stronger con. rods, although ive seen SR ones, and the are pretty rigid for stock ones. (do this all by my lonely)

add some larger piston heads (a must if i were to up the displacement, doin this myself aswell).

add stronger valve springs (another do-it myself-er)

probably polish the engine head so that the intake and exhaust side are equally matched in size.. or probably have exhaust bigger considering that exhaust fumes travel into the turbo.. (get a pro to do this, i know someone already)

how much power u think ill be able to put down to da wheelies..

and i was thinkin of doing all the normal swapping of parts myself, and the actual altering of parts will be left for someone else..

how much boost u think i'll be able to handle?

of course all the other stuff that are required like waaaaaaaay larger injectors and fuel pump, metal gaskets and shit like that will be taken care of.

i've only ever installed a turbo once on a 10 second VW, but i'd like to make it one of my projects plus, in doing this ill be able to clean out the whole block and get it painted since it will be in pieces once i get started.. i can get an engine for 1800 Canadian in one place, and 3750 at another, so im thinking by the time its done, it will total upto 3500 (engine included) and ill have a fuckin mean ass SR.

what u guys think? any criticism/comments are appreciated.. and what would i need to start? Mechanics manual? what else? ill need to grab one of them from the UK for 200sx, since i wont be able to understand the jap version...

ideas/comments anyone?

btw, im usually good with mechanical/electronic shit.. and tightening and loosening bolts isnt too hard.. as long as i have the right instructions , and if were to have trouble i can just call a service technician at nissan that i know or just call my buddies at the vw shop for general shit.

i hope you have alot of $$ because you plans sound expensive..i never seen a sr bored to 2.4l only 2.2 and the kit that does that is by JUN and it cost only $2500.. and comes with your pistons c\rods and a new crankshaft..

if you really do all that you say you can runn 25+psi on that motor
btw way you are gona need a stand alone fuel managment to make full use of all those mods..

im thinkin of runnin an SDS-EFi management system or if my boiz at the v-dub shop can hook it up wif something better/more reliable..

i should be able to get deals on pretty much everything if i search around..

and probably the most expensive part on those packages is the crankshaft.

so like i sad, i will bullnose the stock one and lighten it and then spray it with heat resistant coating... ill spray everythign with it.

that should increase HP by about 5% or so.

im thinking in the end, the whole engine will cost 4000 Canadian if i can get the hook ups.

then the FMIC about 1200 CDN..
not sure about Standalone tech though, havent researched thoze prices.

then ofcourse i could upgrade the turbo.
which will be a bit more aswell, im thinkin i can find alot of good stuff on ebay thru reliable sellers.

i dunno, just a though.

any more comments/ideas?
